Opening Weekend :)

It's finally here, opening weekend of camping! This day never comes fast enough. The campground actually opened last weekend but the weather hasn't been the greatest, so we waited until this last weekend to go. I'm glad we did because, as you can see, there is still snow on the ground.

I was happy to see that our site was just the way we left it. Well, with a little ice and snow but other that, all was well. We spent the first few hours unpacking, raking, sweeping, and leaf blowing.

Aayla spent it relaxing in my flower bed. Lucky for her that flowers aren't coming up yet.

The first night there was an amazing sunset.

I can't decide which of these I like better.

This is how I spent my Saturday morning :)

The nice thing about going up so early in the year is that none of our neighbors are there. They don't turn the water on until mid May when the danger of freezing is past. With no one else up there, the birds were every where! I sat by the fire with my coffee, my camera, oh, and my husband, too, waiting for every single one of the birds to come to our feeder so I could photograph them.

I had the most difficult time with this cardinal. It never came close and it always hid in the brush. I'm hoping next time we are up there I'll be able to get a better shot.

This bird was very messy. He emptied one whole feeder by himself! Most of it ended up on the ground, but the other birds didn't mind.

Miss Aayla loves the outside time :)

I hope everyone had a great day!

Full Moon

This is going to be a short post as I am feeling a little under the weather. Spring has arrived . . . and so have my allergies.
Last night there was a beautiful clear sky, perfect for photographing the moon. It took me a few test shots to get it right, but the final image is amazing! Can you see the face?

I hope everyone had a great day :)

Warmer days

I think spring has finally come! The birds are making their nests and flowers are finally opening up.

Speaking of birds, I was able to photograph our momma bird who's nest is on our front door. I didn't want to get too close.

My mom stopped to visit and, as she was leaving, I thought I'd check our nest again. I couldn't believe my eyes. She had already laid her eggs. I quickly took this picture and let her be. I can't wait until there are little babies!!!

Miss Aayla is definitely enjoying the spring weather :) She would lay outside in this spot for hours if we'd let her.

I'm so excited that this weekend is our first weekend up at our camper! That to me officially marks the beginning of spring. Be prepared for lots of posts coming of our weekend adventures.

I hope everyone had a great day and is enjoying this weather!

Really Mother Nature?

I don't think Mother Nature understands or realizes that spring should be here. Today we had sun, rain, sleet, and snow. Every time I looked out the window, I saw something different.

I brought my camera to work, hoping to photograph some ducks that swim under the walking bridge by my office. It was so cold and windy today they weren't there, but I was able to get some neat images anyway.

The ice is finally moving out

This dock is patiently waiting for its boat

I'm not sure what kind of birds these are but their yellow coloring is beautiful!

This goose looked like it was keeping guard for all the seagulls that were sleeping

Remember the ice storm we had? I was showing a co-worker some of the photos from last week and she fell in love with one of some trees. She ordered it on canvas and I love how it turned out. The one on the left is a photo on canvas from the Mitchell Domes.

For the past few months we've been working on remodeling our bathroom. We're finally getting down to the end, so I thought I'd post what it looks like with the canvas hung up.

Once it's all done I'll post showing before, during and after pictures of our bathroom.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Spring is getting closer!

Today was a gloomy rainy day. It's been way too many days since we've seen the sun.  When I'm sitting at my desk at work I have a view right out the window. This little bird has been visiting the past few days.

When I got home I found this on our front door :)

A busy little bird has been working on this for the past few days.

I told my husband we have to stop using the front door so we don't disturb her. I'm going to try and check on it every day and look forward to seeing eggs and hopefully baby birds!!!

My flowers are still working on coming up and my crocus is just about ready to open.

I hope the weather warms up and the sun comes out soon!!!!

Ice Ice Baby

Two nights ago we had a thunderstorm but never once did I think that when I woke up everything would be coated with ice.

When I let Aayla out, all I could hear was the eerie sound of branches cracking.  I felt bad for this little bird; there wasn't a bare branch to be found.

Even my flowers that are coming up got ice on their tips.  I hope it doesn't kill them!

I took a drive past Doty Park which is near our house. The ducks didn't seem to be phased by all the ice and creaking branches.

I decided to bring my camera to work because I knew I would have great high views from which to shoot.   These were taken from the top of the parking ramp.

In the afternoon, I took a quick walk outside to get some pictures of the flag, eagles, and some bushes outside the office.

The whole flag was covered in ice.  As the wind blew, the ice cracked and flew off.

This is view is down the road from our house.  Even at the end of the day, the trees were still covered in ice.

We were lucky that we didn't lose power.  Today the ice is all gone but it's been raining nonstop.

I hope everyone had a great day and let's hope the weather gets sunnier soon!
